Common Core Standards
The Common Core is a a set of college- and career-ready standards for kindergarten through 12th grade in English language arts/literacy and mathematics. Today, 43 states have voluntarily adopted and are working to implement the standards, which are designed to ensure that students graduating from high school are prepared to take credit bearing introductory courses in two- or four-year college programs or enter the workforce.

Scott Foresman Reading Street
The Scott Foresman Reading Street Program Provides a Comprehensive research-based approach to reading that meets the needs of a wide range of abilities in kindergarten. Priority skills for readers and nonreaders are presented in a systematic sequence of instruction in the areas of phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, oral vocabulary and text comprehension. The program draws from children’s literature organized around six themes: Fiction and nonfiction selections along with informational text support both science and social studies. Key components of Reading Street include writing, spelling, grammar and study skills. The writing component of Reading Street gives children an opportunity to write in developmentally appropriate ways beginning with an illustration to convey meaning.

The Scott Foresman-Addison Wesley enVision Math Program is based upon a vision of children engaged and understanding math at a conceptual level. Using problem-based interactive activities and a strong emphasis on visual learning, the text is filled with bar diagram tools, pictures of money and counters, and other visual representations to help students work their way to thinking about abstract mathematical concepts.Grade K topics include sorting, positions, patterns, numbers to 20, geometric shapes, simple fractions, measurement, addition and subtraction, and graphs.
